BUGLAS brings together companies that are involved in the construction of fibre optics in Germany. They do this by making fast internet available to both businesses and consumers. By constructing a fibre optic infrastructure, Germany can set up and operate a future-oriented and high-quality communication network.
BUGLAS advocates for investment-friendly framework conditions in which FttB/H business models can be successfully implemented. The association effectively supports the federal government's broadband strategy by promoting the establishment and expansion of its own fiber optic networks. At the end of 2017, the more than 85 affiliated companies had connected around 2,1 million households and businesses directly to fiber. At the end of 2019, the counter stood at more than 900.000 additional households and businesses directly connected to fiber.
